Common use

Aquazide is primarily used to manage hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure. This medicine belongs to a group of medications known as thiazide diuretics, often referred to as "water pills." In addition to managing hypertension, Aquazide tablet is also utilized to manage edema, a condition characterized by excess fluid accumulation in your body.

Dosage and direction

Contraindications

Lupus Erythematosus: Aquazide can worsen lupus symptoms.
Gout: Hydrochlorothiazide in this tablet may cause an increase in uric acid levels, which could trigger gout attacks.
Diabetes: This medication could impact blood sugar control, necessitating more frequent monitoring of blood glucose levels.

Possible side effect

Aquazide may have the following common side effects: Dizziness; Headache; Nausea or Vomiting; Diarrhea or Constipation; Increased Sensitivity to Sunlight; Electrolyte Imbalances: This could mean lower levels of potassium or sodium in your body.

Drug interaction

Mood Stabilising Medicines: Hydrochlorothiazide in this medicine can increase lithium levels in your body, leading to toxicity.
Cardiac Glycosides: The tablet may enhance the effects of digoxin, possibly resulting in digitalis toxicity.
Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs): Medicines such as ibuprofen or naproxen may reduce the blood pressure lowering effect of Aquazide.
Corticosteroids: These can decrease potassium levels, and when used with Aquazide, it may lead to hypokalaemia.
Insulin and Oral Diabetes Medicines: This medicine might affect blood glucose control, possibly altering the effectiveness of these medicines.
Other Antihypertensive Drugs: Using Aquazide with other blood pressure-lowering medicines like amlodipine could further lower your blood pressure.

Missed dose

If you forget to take your regular dose of Aquazide, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Never modify the dosage without consulting your doctor.

Overdose

An overdose of Aquazide might lead to common side effects like dizziness, headache, and nausea. If you suspect an overdose and these symptoms persist, it's important to inform your doctor.

Storage

Keep Aquazide at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C. Protect from excessive moisture and direct sunlight. Ensure the medicine is stored in a secure place, out of reach of children.
